Chelsea vs LiverpoolBy Santhosh Kumar
December 19, 2018
Stamford Bridge plays host to a cracking game of football this Sunday. Chelsea takes on the high flying Champions league finalist Liverpool in a very very crucial clash for the top 4 finish this season. Liverpool looks to keep scoring and continue the momentum which would help them in conquering Europe. Chelsea meanwhile, have to win all the left games and hope the other teams have a slip.
The mood at Stamford Bridge for the past few days have been bittersweet. The U-18 team has won an unprecedented quadruple, winning almost everything possible. The Chelsea ladies too won the FA cup beating Arsenal. It’s only left to the senior team to round off a great week. The blues will go all guns blazing as this is the last chance to finish in the top 4 and also win the FA Cup. Giroud will once again look to knick a goal while the onus is on both Hazard and Willian to create some magic. Antonio Conte has got his work cut out and will try to give it all, urging his players from the whistle.
The team from Anfield erstwhile are having a crazy season. The Reds are sitting third in the Premier league. In a well-deserved champions league final looking to score their way to glory. Their front three are devastating all defences week in, week out. It’ll be a little emotional for their main man Mo Salah, returning to his old club. As he scored in the return fixture at Anfield, the so-called ‘Egyptian Messi’ will look to score again in this fixture. Jurgen Klopp will bolster his players to give it their best shot on Sunday as a preparation for their much awaited final against Real Madrid.
Courtois | Azpilicueta, Christiansen, Rudiger | Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso | Hazard, Giroud, Willian.
Marius | Van Dijk, Lovren, Moreno, Alexander-Arnold | Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum | Mane, Firmino, Salah.
PREDICTIONS AND KICK OFF TIME:
This seems to be a tough fixture at the business end of the season. All though Liverpool can literally put the game to bed within the first half hour, they are still vulnerable at the back. Chelsea will look to exploit and make sure that they make a good deal out of it. I see goals in this fixture and All I can see is a draw with goals in it. My prediction would be:
Chelsea 2-2 Liverpool.
The match is to be held at The Stamford Bridge and it will be kicked off at 4.30 pm UK time and 9.00 pm IST.
