Barcelona vs Girona: Odd’s & PredictionBy Pavithran Chidambaram
October 15, 2018
The league leaders Barcelona could set a new club record of 32 Liga games without defeat against fellow Catalan rivals Girona. After a disappointing game against Chelsea in the Champions League and a hectic schedule ahead, Barcelona will be hoping to bounce back. Blaugranes won the first meet with a brace of own goals and the final blow coming from the Uruguayan. Girona has been phenomenal, playing in the top flight for the first time ever, beating Real Madrid and drew with Atletico Madrid over the last few months, they are currently sitting eighth with European spot on cards.
The duo of Messi and Alba could be unstoppable and twilight to watch and Barcelona’s squad depth will be sufficient to counter any threat Girona may pose. Dembele and Coutinho would be a threat in the final third with the city rivals netting only 13 goals away from the Montilivi. It could be counterproductive if Messi is marked by Maffeo again only to the agony of raining goals from Suarez. Girona could be hopeless until they dispose Barca from ball, close the lines and push forward. Barca would try to find the back of the net within first half and may end up clean if not an off day.
