Preview: Leicester city vs Chelsea ( FA cup Quarter-finals )By Santhosh Kumar
October 16, 2018
The officially fallen Champions of England go out to face the 2015-2016 English Champions in this Quarterfinal fixture of the Emirates FA cup. Yes, it’s Leicester city vs Chelsea today. Always a cracking contest with a lot of good attacking players on either side, this match could be one worthy of a Quarterfinal match. Let’s take a quick look at both teams current form.
Leicester city not having their best season are currently poised in the Premier League. Sitting 8th in the league, they’ll look to go further in the FA cup to make it a good season. The foxes have lost only once in the last five matches, drawing two and winning the other. Their main players Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are good in form and the foxes will look up to them for this game.
Chelsea, on the other hand, are having one of the most indifferent seasons in the Premier League era. The other day, they dominated at Nou Camp but weren’t clinical enough. Simple mistakes from individuals are costing them so much. Their only redemption is FA cup this season considering their place in the Premier league table. Antonio Conte is on the hot seat after a set of poor results in March. Maybe today could be a turning point and they could go on to win this.
Coming to head-to-head between these two, Chelsea has a dominant record. The Blues have not lost in their last six matches against the foxes, winning four and drawing the other two. Leicester though has always been a threat to the Chelsea goal in the recent times. The overall record is also with Chelsea, winning 55 out of the 110 times against Leicester.
Schmeichel | Chilwell, Maguire, Morgan, Simpson | Gray, Ndidi, Mahrez, Okazaki, Iborra | Vardy.
Caballero | Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta | Emerson, Kanté, Bakayoko, Zappacosta | Hazard, Morata, Willian.
It is a must win for Chelsea, for it’s their only redemption for silverware this season. They will look to go and win this match and in-turn this cup at all costs. Leicester city won’t be easy pushovers as they got few things to prove to everyone. It should be a good attacking game and I see Chelsea going through to the Semifinals. My prediction would be:
Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea
4.30 PM U.K TIME
10.00 PM INDIAN TIME.
