PREVIEW: MANCHESTER CITY VS CHELSEA ( PREMIER LEAGUE )By Santhosh Kumar
December 19, 2018
The runaway leaders of the league versus The Champions. One feisty fixture we’ve got here for today. Manchester City vs Chelsea tonight will be a top end blockbuster for everybody. Chelsea probably will be thinking that this might not be the best time to face the citizens as they are on a roll all the way this season.
Manchester city looks on course to trash all records this season. This was even stated by the blues boss Antonio Conte in the pre-match press conference. Of the 14 matches played after the turn of the year, they’ve lost only two games and scoring very freely. Scoring 39 times to be exact. All praise for Pep Guardiola as he has transformed the team into a world class outfit. Pep also mentioned about Conte in his pre-match conference stating ” people don’t what Conte has done to English football, introducing a new style of play and a new system “. The citizens will go in as favorites into the match.
Where to start with Chelsea. One day, they play scintillating football against Barcelona and another day, they play less than ordinary against Manchester United. That has been the very problem of the blues. Inconsistency is the issue. Big players not stepping up their game and too much reliant on Eden Hazard is also a hassle. But against city though, Hazard always puts up a strong performance. He has directly had a hand in the last 8 goals scored against Chelsea, scoring 4 and assisting the other 4. Chelsea and Conte will be looking up to Eden to produce a fine effort and win it for the blues. It’s now or never for Antonio Conte as the next four, five games will decide the Italian’s future at Stamford Bridge.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-4-2) :
Ederson | Danilo, Otamendi, Laporte, Zinchenko | De Bruyne, Gundogan, Silva | Sterling, Aguero, Sane.
CHELSEA (3-4-3) :
Courtois | Azpilicueta, Cahill, Rudiger | Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso | Willian, Giroud, Hazard.
As I mentioned earlier, this one will be a cracker of a game. At this moment though, the citizens with their out of the world form, will be taking the game. Chelsea will try to hit them on the counter, but eventually, win succumb to the supreme power of the city. I see Manchester city winning the game 2-1 today.
KICK-OFF TIME AND VENUE :
