Preview: Newcastle vs Chelsea (Premier League)
End of the season it is. The champions have been crowned, teams getting relegated, it’s all happening in England’s top division. A potential dead rubber of a match today. It’s Newcastle vs Chelsea at the last match day of the season. It’s a kind of strange season for both the teams today. One recently promoted to the Premier League, but with a lot of history. They seem to have retained their position. Another champion last season played with no consistency and look to be even out of the champions league spot.
Newcastle has had a good season on the whole. Being promoted from last season, they have done quite well to be in the top flight. Rafael Benitez has done an excellent job, and that too in the recent weeks making them like a well-oiled machine. Newcastle would be looking to finish off the season by beating a top side and look for brighter prospects for the next season.
Chelsea, as I’ve been continuously saying in the previous posts, have had one of the most indifferent seasons in their recent history. They play world class one week and total nonsense football the other. Antonio Conte tried a lot of things to boost the season. But nothing worked out well. However, all in not lost yet for the blues. They are in the final of the FA Cup and could make their season a good one winning that. Before that, they’d look to win the last game of in the league to finish strong.
Dubravka | Dummett, Lascelles, Lejuene, Yedlin | Shelvey, Diane, Ritchie, Merino, Perez | Gayle.
Courtois | Azpilicueta, Christiansen, Rudiger | Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso | Morata, Giroud, Hazard.
Newcastle has been a tough place for Chelsea to win. However, I hope to see a Chelsea victory and it could be possible if the blues play to their potential. I go for a Chelsea win.
Newcastle 1-3 Chelsea.
